Any ideas about this antique jewelry?
I was given this jewelry by my mother. I was told it was passed on through our family, but I thought it was something from the sixties. A matching bracelet and clip earring set, it is made of either brass or copper and has huge chunks of silver. It’s super heavy. Some of the pieces of silver have come off and I can tell it has been repaired before. Any ideas what time period it could be from? I’d love to get the piece restored as well as know more about it. Thanks!

Should I do something about this or not?
We bought my wedding band from the estate section of a local jewelry store. I have an affection for antique jewelry and since my engagement ring is an antique, I wanted a wedding band that went with it. I fell so much in love with the ring that I didn’t even notice until I got home that there is engraving inside the band. I can’t read all of it, but the date is 4-12-51. How do you feel about diamonds as a tradition for engagement rings?
I don’t think people realize that a diamond engagement ring wasn’t a tradition until the early 1900′s invented by a world wide jewelry producer called "DeBeers." You may have heard of them? Although diamonds had been given in the past, it wasn’t until DeBeers got a hold of the market that now more then 90% of women expect diamonds. Now it’s supposed "custom" or "tradition" and women EXPECT a diamond ring! I have a hard time wearing something on my finger that supposedly symbolizes love that was more of a marketing invention.
