What do you think of a "used" engagement ring?
My boyfriend and I are looking for an engagement ring. I really don’t think we need to spend a lot of money on it, but he wants something nice and "real" as in no CZ or man-made jewels.
We are looking at fine jewelry in department stores and places with sales.
He won’t hardly even consider a "second-hand" ring from Craigslist, newspaper ads, antique shops or anything like that. I think that you can get a really good deal and that there’s no reason to spend hundreds or thousands more just for something "new"

What is the best online resource to learn about African beads and trade beads?
I am an amateur jeweler. I just started working with beads and making jewelry several months ago. I’ve heard a lot about African beads, seen them at trade shows, and am interested in using them in some of my necklaces. Where is the best place to learn more about the history of trade beads, and antique beads (specifically African)? Recommendations of books would be great, but I’d much prefer websites because they are easier to access and are free

How much do two AAA white cultured freshwater 8mm pearls cost?
I was going through an estate sale last week, and I got a shoe box full of old jewelry for only 5 bucks. I was going through it, and I found 2 pearl earrings in a black felt box. They were so pretty, I took them to a jewelry store and asked them if they were real and to see if I could have them cleaned. (I don’t know where they’ve been.) Is there a website where I can find out what jewelry markings mean?
So I was watching Antiques Roadshow the other day, and this lady had brought in some really old rings. The appraiser looked on the inside of the rings and explained that rings have all these markings that tell things about it (besides the Karat marker). I decided to look at the inside of my engagement ring since I never really thought about it before. My ring has an 18K, and another weird symbol, it’s a 5 point star with this thing next to it that sort of looks like an L, or even a British Pound sign.
