What Does 375 Mean On Gold?
Hi David, I live in Atlanta Ga. I have no idea where you are, but I have been reading your articles and have great admiration for your obvious knowledge.
I am totally new at checking the markings on jewelry that is supposedly gold but does not have the markings I am used to here such as 10k,14k,18k, etc.
I have a question that I cannot find an answer for.
Have you ever heard of a mark 375?
The sellers that sold me this sapphire ring says they think it is gold but from some other country like England?
Can you tell me if you have heard of such? Thanks so very much!! Cathy

I recently received this question from Beth with regard an inheritance of early 19th Century Italian Jewelry.
Hello, I received some jewelry from the 1800s in which I do not see a hallmark.
I believe that most of it is from Italy. If it doesn’t have a hallmark, is it more than likely fake?
