Grandma's Old Photos..?

One of our personal hobbies is my Family Tree.
Genealogy is a fascinating subject and when you are involved in Antique and Estate Jewelry as we are, it becomes a double bonus.
Why?
Because Grandma's old Photos can do two things.
They SHOW us what Jewelry was being worn and in fashion, and secondly, they tell us WHEN.
Look at this photo:
Antique Cross and Chain
This is my Great Aunt Mag. She died before I was born but we know from family records, when she was born and when she died, and roughly when this photo was taken (around the 1910's).
Grandma's Old Photo's Strikes again...
Also look at the Brooch. It was typical of the way they wore them. High on the throat, not like we see them today.
The cross on a fine chain was probably hollow too.
By using this information I am happy to evaluate dates when it comes to Antique Jewelry. You can do the same with your own family photos.
You can even use old photos from neighbors and friends to accurately determine dates.
