and have found that the crown is for gold,
18 is the carats and the lion is birmingham.
G’day Janelle and many thanks for your comment but I have to disagree with you.
If you check the information in my original answer you will see that the Lion in the assay mark for LONDON - not Birmingham.
Birmingham has the anchor as the assay office mark.
Make sure you are NOT getting confused with the outline mark of the lion passant. The lions FACE mark is London.
