mystery ring: where is it from, how old is it?
Friday, September 1, 2006 15:20Hello David, How are you (and Patricia)? It's great to see a familiar name here.
I have this wonderful old ring, but I would love to find out more about it. It is made out of rose gold.
Both sides of the setting have leaf decorations (two little diamonds each side).
The main setting is in a marquise shape 37 mm by 11 mm so quite big. It is set with 5 stones down the middle and 32 small stones around the middle stones. The stones are rose cut diamonds, closed/foiled back.
The middle part with the 5 bigger stones is raised and is a separate piece that is fixed onto the main part of the ring.
It's all made out of rose gold, no white metal.
There are markings stamped onto the outside of the ring shank but I cannot decipher anything. Sorry about the confusing description. I would love to know anything about this ring.
It was sold to me as being from the late 1940s which would make it a re-make, but the seller admitted that they didn't know much about it. My local jeweler hadn't even seen foiled diamonds before so he couldn't help. Thanks for your suggestions, Cheers, Ines

Opinions vary on the “coolest” vintage toy markets, but most fingers point to vintage Transformers, vintage Pez, vintage Star Wars, and vintage Hot Wheels. Out of these, Star Wars vintage toys are considered among the most valuable individually, though with the huge amount of Pez variations and prototypes available, Pez are likely more valuable in sum.
In the late 70’s, Kenner produced an original line of twelve Star Wars figures, and this entire line is highly desirable to Star Wars enthusiasts, each valued at over two thousand dollars in great condition and in their original packaging. The most…
