Limoges Brooch Identity?

Limoges Brooch Identity Question: I cannot find any info on a “Limoges-round-porcelain-hand painted with an image of who i believe is blueboy and pinky.

LomogesLiving With Limoges

Price: $32.97 USD

He is on one knee and holding his hat and she is standing with her fan.

They are outdoors and the blue/white sky is the background.

Ihave a brooch/pendant and have not been able to find much out about it. There are alot of other brooches like it, but not this one.

I hope you can help.

Answer: G’day (sorry I don’t know your name) and many thanks for your query and your patience, as after the recent storms here in Australia, we have only just got our telephone lines back on - and Internet access.

Gainsborough’s Blue Boy is rare, but I have to ask, Can you see on the back of the Porcelain? If so, what are the marks there?

As there are thousands of Transfer imitations around, you didn’t even mention what the Brooch/Pendant was made from?

I suggest (as I can’t see it, feel it, measure or test it) that you take it to your Local FRIENDLY Antique Jewelry Dealer who will be able to tell you more after careful examination of the item.

Hope this helps…

    Thank you for your reply.

I have attached a picture of the brooch.
    Limoges Brooch

It is stamped on the back “Made in Limoges France”.

I think it could be part of the “courting” series.

    What do you think?

    Thank you very much. Shelley

G’day again Shelley and many thanks for your feedback.

However you didn’t let me know what the Brooch was made from? Is is gold - Silver - or Antique Finish?

    Could it be Plated?

Here is the website address of a terrific resource when studying old jewelry and I recommend it to you. You may have to spend a little time browsing, but it will give you a better understanding. It is at:
