    Hi, just to answer some of your further questions:

    my aunt died this year she was 78, the F is in a square shape, and the shield mark is in a pentagram a five-sided shape…

    thanks for your time,

    Michelle

    G’day Michelle and many thanks for your follow up…

    Just a couple of points. Is the ‘F’ uppercase or lower case?
    Is the letter in fancy ‘OLD ENGLISH’ style or plain?
    What is the shape of the stamp?
    What is inside the Shield?
    Where was your aunt living when she FIRST got married?

    Hope these answers will track things down a little further.

    Ok, answering your questions in order….

    The F is uppercase, plain style and the stamp is plain square shape;

    the shield has some etching on it but i cant see it clearly so no help there;

    my aunt lived in Knightsbridge, London when she was married…thank you again for your expertise…

    Michelle

    G’day again Michelle and many thanks for the swift reply

    In an earlier query you mentioned that your aunt was 78, so if we assume she was about 20 when she married (might be earlier) that takes us back to her being born in 1928 and married about 1948 ish….

    There is NO square stamp for London assay office except with the corners cut off, so I am going to assume (again) that is correct.

    An uppercase ‘F’ was done in London 1941 but the jewellery may have been around the Store for a few years before it sold.

    That’s about the best we can get and I would be happy with that. The ring was made in London circa 1941.

    You can rest easy now and please treasure it.
