Scented candles increase the ambience of any room in your home. If you are a romantic kind of person, you'll appreciate the aroma of these scented wax masterpieces. Your guests will be intoxicated with calm and well being. As you will appreciate, the flickering glow of any candle heightens the elegance of a room.
The warm fragrance of a scented candle will lift your spirts, even when the candle is not lit. When you arrive home tired and worn out from the day, the aroma & warm glow of a scented candle tends to loosen your tightness & lift your energy level.
Scented candles are wonderful gifts for any occasion and/or season, especially when made by your own hands.
1. Pick Your {Fragrance For Candle Making}
Fragrance oil is available in virtually any craft shop. You may also shop for it on the web. Select a good quality fragrance oil instead of going whth a cheap water or alcohol based fragrances. Since your wax mix will be oil based, your fragrance should also be oil based. Why? Well, as oil and water do not blend, water based perfume tends not to mix with the melted wax.
2. Choose Your Wax
The basics of {making a scented candle} are more or less the same as for ordinary wax candles. Start by choosing your desired kind of wax. The current day market offers a versatile range of wax starting with beeswax, palm or soy & moving on to gel or paraffin wax. You'll want to decide on the aromatic intensity for your candles before choosing your wax. For example, lower density wax holds less fragrance than wax of a higher density.

3. The Art of Scented Candle Making
Now we'll go through the process of creating aromatic candles.
1st step is to melt your wax. I suggest using a double boiler. Which means put the wax in a small pot. Then put that container inside a slightly larger pot containing water. Now heat the water. Use a thermometer to avoid burning your wax. The temperature must be kept between 170 &180 degrees F.
Once your wax has melted, insert a wick in the mold & take the wax away from the heat source. Next add your fragrance oil. A mixture of 1 ounce of fragrance oil to 1 pound of wax will create a fragrance level equal to 6% of candle density. Greater amounts of fragrance oil will cause the candle to burn out quicker.
Next pour the melted wax/fragrance mixture into it's mold. The only job left is to let it cool before removing your candle from it's mold.
